WFI ANNOUNCES FULL FUNDING ON BELL SLATE DEVELOPMENT FUND APPLICATION
2023 was an incredible year for the Wookey Films team, and it looks like 2024 will be no different! After a competitive round of applications, Wookey Films has been selected alongside forty-seven production companies nationwide as recipients of the Bell Slate Development Fund.
The Bell Fund operates as part of Bell’s Slate Development Program, and works to advance the goals of independent Canadian production companies by providing financing for original projects to develop new, Canadian IP. The WFI Slate comprised proposals for three dynamic factual series, two in French and one in English, and it is with gratitude and joy that Wookey Films announces receiving our full slate funding request.
Bon Débarras (Unis TV) will be a lifestyle series following two French-Canadian couples, as they take eclectic finds from garage sales, giveaways and online marketplaces, and turn them into refined treasures. À Demi Temps (TFO), a documentary series, will film over the course of one year, and follow the experiences of Francophone high school students attending high school on a part-time basis in order to dedicate themselves to their dreams. Finally, Higher Love (Out TV) will chronicle “buzz”worthy romance, as we follow queer contestants going out on first dates… while high out of their minds!
