JANELLE RECRUITED AS MENTOR IN HOT DOCS’ DOC ACCELERATOR PROGRAM

As a young filmmakers, Janelle and Jeremie were extremely grateful to have benefitted from professional mentorship programs as a way to get a jump start in the industry. When Janelle was recruited to be a mentor in the Hot Docs Accelerator Program for emerging filmmakers this month, she jumped at the chance to pay it forward.

Janelle has been paired with Heather Hatch (pictured above), an incredibly talented emerging Indigenous filmmaker from Edmonton who, just like Janelle, launched her career with a film about her grandmother. Janelle is currently helping Heather as she wraps up post-production on a new film and looks for distributors and broadcast opportunities.

Wookey Films strongly supports any and all initiatives aimed at fostering emerging talent in the film industry, especially those aimed at helping filmmakers who are part of the BIPOC and LGBTQ* communities - both of which close to Janelle and Jérémie’s hearts.
