'BANNI' TO PREMIERE AT RENDEZ-VOUS DU CINÉMA QUEBECOIS IN MONTREAL, LAUNCH ON TV5'S ONLINE PLATFORM IN MARCH
Wookey Films’ first foray into scripted production, Banni, which was written and directed by close creative collaborator, Max Beauchamp, will premiere at the Rendez-vous du cinéma Québecois in Montreal on March 3rd. The series is set to launch the following day on Unis TV5’s online platform.
The series tells the story of a famous comedian who returns to his home town after being ‘cancelled’ for telling a bad gay joke only to be reunited with his now adult baby brother who’s in the process of coming out.
It stars Quebec-based actors, Sébastien Tessier (Bric et brac) and Vincent Paquette as well as local talents Caroline Touchette and Thérèse Pilotte-Bartel.
The production also features the talents of Wookey’s in-house DP, Jesse de Rocquigny, Art Director, Madison Summer; Wardrobe head, Willow Harvey and music by Emmanuel Alias. The series was edited by Winnipeg’s Fabian Velasco and Wookey’s own Martin Lafrenière. It was PM’d by Elena Sturk-Lussier and Line produced by Katy Slimmon, both of Wookey Films.
The series was funded by Fonds TV5 and the Canada Media Fund. Wookey Films wishes to thank writer-director Max Beauchamp for trusting us with this project. We look forward to many more collaborations in the future!
The series is also set to air on TV5’s airwaves in Spring of 2023.
