WOOKEY ENTERS FORMAL DEVELOPMENT WITH 'SAY YES TO THE DRESS' CREATOR ABBY GREENSFELDER AND LA-BASED PRODUCER MYIEA COY ON LIMITED DOC SERIES

Following an exciting win at Realscreen West’s Propelle pitch competition, Wookey Films has entered into a formal co-development deal with two incredible companies: Everywoman Studios and Confluential Films.

Everywoman Studios was founded and is currently run by Abby Greensfelder, a veteran and force in the reality TV industry who specializes in female-centred content with social impact. Confluential Films is an LA-based company that has produced incredible work in both the reality and scripted realms of TV production such as Erica Tremblay’s Fancy Dance (Sundance), Black Love (OWN) and 40 Years a Prisoner (HBO MAX).

Janelle has been working closely with Confluential’s SVP of television, Myiea Coy, who acted as her mentor in the months leading to the Propelle competition in June. Myiea’s influence and guidance have been invaluable as Wookey prepares to pitch the project The Indian in the Child, an important series about the Residential School System in Canada and the US, to major US networks and streamers in LA and New York.

The series is set to tell the story of Residential Schools to a North-American audience through the eyes of survivors and their loved ones as they continue to heal and seek justice. For this important and sensitive project, Wookey Films is honoured to have the support and trust of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, who will be a key partner as development moves forward. The NCTR’s involvement is, and will continue to be, crucial towards ensuring this important story is told with truth, empathy, and integrity.
