WFI SIGNS WRITING TEAM IN MONTREAL FOR SCRIPTED SERIES
Wookey Films is thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with two fantastic, Montreal-based writers to write the first three episodes of La Gazette, a fictional series the company has been developing since 2019 and its first foray into the world of scripted television!
Joëlle Bond has been writing for tv and theatre in Montreal since graduating form CADQ in 2009. She won the Première Ovation First Work Grant for her first dramatic work, Charme and has continued to write for tv and theatre ever since.
Maxime Robin is an actor and producer known for his work on 2017’s Ballet Jazz and 2020’s Meilleur Avant. His wealth of experience is a huge asset as we venture into the scripted TV scene.
After their first meeting, Janelle and Jérémie knew right away that they were in good hands. Janelle summed it up best, “It’s not easy when you have a concept that’s so close to your heart, to hand the creative reins over to someone you don’t know - so when you find a pair like this, who GETS you, gets your show, your vision, your sense of humour and is as excited about it as you, it’s an amazing feeling!"
La Gazette is a fish-out-of-water story about a young reporter form Montreal who finds herself writing for a small, French-language newspaper in Winnipeg.
Wookey Films is grateful to agent Corinne Giguère for connecting our team to these two writers who fully understood our vision and who are as excited about its potential as we are.
